Illegal international call routing gang busted

Officials of the Central Crime Station on Thursday arrested four persons on charges of running illegal international call routing racket in the city.

The police seized 260 Single and Multiple SIM Routers, D- Link switch, Ethernet Serial Converter, Wireless Router TP Link, POE Ethernet Converter, 535 SIM cards and Rs. 4.72 cash from the arrested persons identified as Asif Hussain, (32) Habeeb Sadath alias Aamair (38) Syed Mateenuddin (25) and Mohd. Abdul Quddus (34).

They used Voice over Internet Protocol (VOIP) technology to route calls to landline and cell phones from any part of the world to India and vice versa which is illegal, the police said.

The gang members were working for Madhu Reddy, who is currently residing in Saudi Arabia and a US national Mark Godwin who operates from Dubai.
