October 10, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:39 am IST - Hyderabad:

IIT Hyderabad did fairly well in attracting top rankers compared to other new IITs though not a single candidate in the top 500 ranks preferred the institute. Statistics reveal that in the open category, only 20 candidates among the top 1,000 rankers, 103 among the top 5,000 rankers and 109 among the top 10,000 rankers chose it as their destination.

Among the 220 seats offered by the IIT-H, 194 are boys and 27 are girls. In the category-wise admissions, 112 are from general category, 59 are from the Backward Classes, 33 from the Scheduled Castes and 17 from the Scheduled Tribes.

IIT Tirupati that started this year has 120 seats and among the admitted students here, 17 are from the top 5,000 ranks and 59 from the top 10,000 ranks.
