Geo tagging of residences of habitual offenders as per the instructions of Telangana State Director General of Police (in-charge) M. Mahender Reddy, began in Adilabad district on Thursday with Superintendent of Police Vishnu S. Warrier tagging a ‘Dossier Criminal’ at Panjesha Mohalla.
He said all habitual offenders will be geo-tagged to help police constantly monitor their movements thereby reducing crime, especially property offences.
Mr. Warrier, accompanied by Adilabad DSP K. Narasimha Reddy and One Town CI V. Suresh, interacted with Md. Rafiuddin Siddiqui alias English Rafiq, the 52-year-old property offender and uploaded the coordinates of his residence. He said this is part of use of modern methods of crime investigation which will ensure decrease in rate of offence.
Comprehensive survey
The Sakala Nerasthula Samagra Survey (comprehensive survey of criminals) was formally launched by North Zone IGP Y. Nagi Reddy along with Commissioner of Police V.B. Kamalasan Reddy in Karimnagar town on Thursday.
The police officials visited the Kisannagar locality in the town and inspected the house of chain-snatcher and cellular phones offender Madnala Naveen. The officials collected all the details of the criminal including his crime details, family members, relatives, use of cellular phones, Facebook accounts, voter-ID card, Aadhar card number, vehicle details, place of working after their release from jail etc.
The IG said that they had identified 51,000 criminals in entire North Zone of the State and had deployed 715 teams for the collection details. The details would be linked to TSCop App and geo-tagged so that if these criminals again conduct any offence it would be known to the police immediately.
He said that the survey would ensure the check in various crimes in the State. The IG appreciated the Commissioner of Police for his innovative measures to reduce the crime rate by 30% in the district.
Commissioner of Police Kamalasan Reddy said they had identified 5,641 criminals out of which 3,944 were living in Karimnagar district and 1,697 criminals in other districts. The ACPs, Inspectors and others were also present.
