IG Eshwar Reddy dies of heart attack

Inspector General of Police R. Eshwar Reddy, looking after the security wing in Andhra Pradesh, died of a heart stroke in the early hours of Wednesday.

A native of Kadapa district, Mr Reddy wrote several books on policing and on aspects relating to police department.

Mr Reddy played a crucial role in the investigation into the chopper crash that killed Chief Minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy, as he was the IG of Security wing. He had returned from the crash site in Nallamala forest a day ago.

He suffered a stroke on Tuesday night and was shifted to a private hospital, where he died while being treated. His body will be shifted to Kadapa, his native district.
