April 24, 2015 12:00 am | Updated April 26, 2015 08:16 am IST - HYDERABAD:

Sending a strong signal that misuse of power will not be tolerated, the AP government issued orders placing IAS officer Sridhar under suspension for declaring over 100 acres of land near Tirupati as private land.

Officials sources said Mr. Sridhar issued the controversial orders when he was the Joint Collector of Chittoor. When the file pertaining to the case was sent to the government, top officials took a serious view and forwarded the file to Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu recommending immediate suspension of the officer. Mr. Naidu promptly cleared the file. Sources said that hundreds of acres of government land was misused under the Congress government. Mr Sridhar is at present awaiting posting.
