Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Mr. K. Rosaiah on Tuesday said, there was nothing wrong if a section of the ruling Congress demanded that Mr. Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy, son of the late Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, be made Chief Minister.
“Ours is a national party and hence there is nothing wrong if they are making this demand in a democratic manner,” the Chief Minister said at the meet-the-press programme, organised by Andhra Pradesh Union of Working Journalists. He pointed out that nobody - either in the cabinet or in the party - was opposing him as the chief minister but some were only expressing their preference. “They are also saying that they will abide by the high command’s decision.” he added.
He expressed his best wishes for Mr. Jagan, the first time MP from Kadapa. “I hope he will have a bright future and emerge as a good leader by following into the footsteps of his late father.” he said. Mr. Rosaiah, who took over as the Chief Minister last month, following the death of Mr. Rajasekhara Reddy in a helicopter crash, said everybody knew under what circumstances he had taken charge.
Clarifying that he did not run after posts, the 77-year-old said: “I will continue as long as the high command wants me to continue.” To another query, Mr. Rosaiah responded: “I believe in working together and all are with me. I have no enemies either in my party or in other parties.” The Chief Minister denied that his cabinet colleagues were not cooperating with him. When asked about reshuffling or expanding the cabinet, Mr. Rosaiah said, he had not given the matter a thought and would take a decision after reviewing the performance of the Ministers.
