Sure and successful, Lasya is slowly spreading out her wings. The young anchor and VJ who made a mark with her cheery presentation in ‘Something Special’ on Maa Music, has now switched to hosting cookery and film-based shows.
Lasya won hearts by being her natural self in ‘Something Special’, where, in the company of co-host Ravi, she smiled, giggled and laughed boisterously while making silly observations and asking still sillier questions.
“That’s me. Those seemingly foolish questions are not cooked-up, they are actual doubts of mine,” she laughs.
Sample one such doubt: are Pranab Mukherjee and Rani Mukherjee related?
“Both are Mukherjees and I wondered aloud if they were relatives,” she says. But what makes Lasya a big hit with the viewers is the innocence in her observations.
An engineering graduate from CBIT, television was not much of a plan for the girl from Kadapa. While completing her studies, Lasya landed with an opportunity to host the show ‘Ankitham’ on Gemini TV. Overcoming initial resistance from her family, she logged in success.
Currently, Lasya is seen hosting ‘Aha Emi Ruchi’ on Gemini and a film-based news show ET on TV9. On Maa Music, the 24-year-old drops anchor for the show ‘Love Line’.
So is acting on the radar?
“I had several offers from serials; but I did not take them up.”
What of big screen offers?
“Oh, there have been film opportunities — one of a second heroine. But I can’t see myself as a heroine or that sort. A meaningful character role might interest me someday,” she adds.
