Hyderabad zoo gets new inmates

During a visit to the Nehru Zoological Park on Sunday, the Minister for Environment, Forests, Science and Technology, Satrucharla Vijayaramaraju released mandrills and white marmoset into earmarked enclosures in visitors display area.

These animals were received as gift from Tisch Family Zoological Garden (Biblical Garden), Jeruselum, Israel.

Speaking to reporters, the Minister said in the last two years, the zoological parks in the State had received animals from four different countries including ceetah from Czech Republic, giraffe from Malaysia, mandrills and white-headed marmosets from Israel apart from African lions and cheetahs from Saudi Arabia.

Other animals such as fishing cats and pygmy hippopotamus were expected to arrive from Sri Lanka in next few days.
