The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has set an ambitious target of making the city open urination-free by April 30. Municipal Commissioner B. Janardhan Reddy has instructed the Deputy Commissioners to ensure that all the 150 wards in the city do not have any urination points in the open areas.

Reminding the officials that community and individual toilets were sanctioned in slums and low income group colonies, the Commissioner ordered the officers concerned to complete the process of construction by next month end.

A report was also sought in this regard. At a meeting held on Monday, the GHMC higher officials also discussed on the progress in making Hyderabad an open defecation-free city.

In a bid to popularise their services among the public, the GHMC has asked filed-level officers of various wings to interact with the people of different strata and create awareness.

The GHMC officials will also take the feedback of various initiatives introduced by the Corporation and its impact on the city.
