Anindith Reddy Konda of Hyderabad has the unique distinction of being the only one from India to feature in the Shanghai round of the prestigious Polo Cup China from June 18, where he will be the guest racer.

The 26-year-old son of Chevella MP K. Vishweshwar Reddy, Anindith is the champion of Volkswagen Vento Cup 2015 in Delhi and is currently a dominant racer in MRF Formula 1600 Championship. With an array of impressive performances, he positioned himself at the third spot (till the end of round 2) and the winner of the series will get a full season with the MRF Challenge, besides being sent for the Mazda Road to Indy shootout.

“There are no other participants from India racing in the Shanghai round of Polo Cup China. This event is quite an important one for my career as it marks my debut in international racing,” said Anindith in an exclusive interview with The Hindu .

“One of the biggest challenges will be the fact that it will be a new car and track for me, so getting used to that with limited time for practice is going to be tough,” the articulate Hyderabadi said.

“And, setting up the car to perform against the other drivers who are more familiar with the machine and have worked with it before, adds to the challenge,” remarked the potential star in the world of motor racing, ahead of his first appearance as a guest racer.

Reflecting on his goals, Anindith said he always goes out with an intense desire to win the race, and to achieve that the car running right is going to be key, and that will be his focus area during the race.

“There will be a lot to learn and the competition will be fierce, but I am looking forward to it and will make sure I put up my best performance there as well,” he pointed out.

“The Vento Cup is India’s best single make championship. It taught me a lot about wheel to wheel racing, staying calm under pressure and anticipating all the things that can happen in racing,” the champion racer observed.

Inspiration

Inspired by his role model, Kimi Raikkonen, whom he believes is not only a great driver but also a fantastic personality, Anindith is in the mood to change gears and step into the elite zone of achievers.
