HMR was adjudged the Best Engineering Project of the year
The Hyderabad Metro Rail was adjudged the Best Engineering Project of the year by the Sixth Annual Global Infrastructure Leadership Forum Conference being held in New York.
The Rs.14,132 crore HMRL of India was among the three shortlisted projects out of 100 projects initially selected from around the world as the ‘Strategic Hundred’ based on several criteria such as business opportunity, productivity creation, competitiveness creation, employment generation and efficiency.
Chief Minister N.Kiran Kumar Reddy here on Friday congratulated the HMRL for bagging the coveted award and said the global recognition won by Hyderabad Metro Rail would boost the competitive advantage of Andhra Pradesh and attract more investments to the State and the country.
The other two short-listed projects for the final round of competition were Trans-Anatolian Gas Pipeline (Rs.37,800 crore) of Azerbaijan and Al Abdaliyah Integrated Solar Combined Cycle Plant of Kuwait. N.V.S.Reddy, Managing Director, HMR, made a presentation on the project in the global forum.
Mr. N.V.S.Reddy along with B.Sam Bob, Principal Secretary, MA&UD, K.S.Jawahar Reddy, Secretary to Chief Minister, received the award from the CEO of Aconex, Leigh Jasper and President and CEO of CG/LA Infrastructure, Norman Anderson in New York on Thursday at a function attended by around 400 top public and private sector executives, bankers, financial experts, consultants and industry leaders specialising in infrastructure projects.
Four other awards were presented for Job Creation Project of the year to Detroit River International Crossing/Champlain Bridge of Canada, Green Infrastructure Project of the Year to the Renewable Energy Independent Power Producers of South Africa, Finance Project to Rio De Janeiro Airport of Brazil and Strategic project of the year to Etihad Rail of the UAE.
