Hyderabad hospital receives liver

The transplant surgery team of Global Hospitals began the process of transplantation of liver on a male patient after receiving the donor organ from a hospital in Vijayawada.

The donor organ reached Hyderabad on Friday evening at around 7.30 p.m. and the hospital surgeons immediately initiated the process of transplantation.

To retrieve the organ, liver transplant surgeon Balbir Singh and his team visited Vijayawada while another liver transplant surgeon Thomas Cherian and his team has taken up the task of transplanting the donor organ.

“By the time we received the organs, the recipient of the liver was already being prepared in our operation theatre. The surgery should go off smoothly. Everything has happened smoothly,” said vice-president (medical services), Global Hospitals, Hirendranath.
