Innovative ideas of an education officer from Telangana received appreciation at the national level with the initiatives being recognised by the Central government’s National University of Educational Planning and Administration (NUPEA).

The then Ranga Reddy District Education Officer (DEO), Gajarla Ramesh, who is the present DEO of Hyderabad, has bagged an award for use of ICT in teaching-learning processes among 123 officers who competed from across the country. The award was presented to him by Union HRD Minister Prakash Javadekar for his three initiatives that included teaching English through WhatsApp, identifying Best in Education Sanitation Total Development (BEST) schools, and introduction of digital classes in government schools.

Mr. Ramesh said teachers in Ranga Reddy district played a key role in the effort apart from Education Minister Kadiam Srihari, who encouraged the initiatives.
