With the Hussainsagar reaching the full tank level of 513.41 metres, the GHMC issued an alert to residents in the low lying areas of Sabarmathi Nagar, Mothi Nagar, Datta Nagar, Krishna Nagar, Arundathi Nagar, Ambedkar Nagar, Shivanand Nagar, Ratna Nagar and Arvind Nagar.

The residents were asked to be prepared to shift to the nearby identified community halls in case of more heavy inflows into the water body.

Mayor Mohammed Majid Hussain and GHMC Commissioner Somesh Kumar who visited the lake and nearby areas in the afternoon, assured that the civic body had taken all precautionary measures to meet any untoward development and said there was no need to panic.

The Zonal Commissioners, Deputy Municipal Commissioners and the entire staff of Engineering, Health, Town Planning and eight emergency squads were alerted to handle any situation emerging from more rains and inflows, they said.
