Chief Minister K. Rosaiah inaugurated the four-day second Hyderabad International Auto Show (HIAS-2010) here on Thursday by unveiling the majestic Ghost from Rolls Royce and diesel variant of Corolla Altis from Toyota, first time for the people of Hyderabad.
Few other new products were on the display at the show, also for the first time here, including Fiat Grande Punto 90 hp, Skoda's latest SUV Yeti, Yamaha's latest super bike V-Max and BMW's 2010 model 5 series luxury sedan. The Chief Minister went round the enclosures of several automakers, interacted with the representatives of respective companies and was made to get into the Rolls Royce Ghost.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Rosaiah said there was tremendous scope for infrastructure development in the State with two and four-wheelers having a huge market potential. Several auto ancillary manufacturing units had already come up at Toopran and Chevella near the city and Nayudupeta would also have such a hub soon.
Some car companies were interested in setting up their manufacturing units in the State, but the proposals were still in the preliminary stages. He assured all possible cooperation from the government to help the auto sector flourish in the State. Well-known automakers including Rolls Royce, Jaguar, Land Rover, Mercedes, BMW, Fiat, Ford, General Motors, Honda, Hyundai, Mahindra, Maruti Suzuki, Nissan, Skoda, Tata Motors, Toyota, Volvo, Volkswagen, Bajaj Auto, Hero Honda, Royal Enfield, Suzuki, TVS Motors and Yamaha displayed their products at the show. Secunderabad MLA K. Jayasudha, president of Federation of All India Dealers' Assocation (FADA) S.P. Shah, vice-president Nikunj Sanghi, president of AP Motor Vehicle Dealers' Association P.T. Chowdhary and others participated.
