Government hospitals and hostels can relax. They will not face the water crunch this summer.
Despite the water level going down in the reservoirs, the Water Board has decided to spare hospitals and hostels from water cut.
“There is no question of curtailing supplies to government hospitals and hostels meant for the common man,” said S. Prabhakar Sharma, Director (Technical), HMWSSB.
The Board has cut supplies to bulk consumers by 10 to 15 per cent, but left the government institutions untouched.
He made this clarification following reports of disconnection of water supply to Niloufer Hospital in view of outstanding dues. Hospital superintendent Daruru Ranganath said there was no shortage of water and the hospital functioning was not affected.
