Honour for Nobel laureate

Rudolph A Marcus, Nobel laureate in Chemistry was awarded the Honorary Doctorate by the University of Hyderabad at a glittering ceremony organised on the university campus on Sunday.

UoH Chancellor C.H. Hanumantha Rao, presented the honorary doctorate degree to Prof. Marcus in the presence of Vice-Chancellor Ramakrishna Ramaswamy.

The 89-year old Prof. Marcus, who was conferred the honorary doctorate in absentia at the convocation held on October 1, was on a short visit to Hyderabad.

While accepting the honour, Prof. Marcus said that he was overwhelmed to receive the award as recognition for his work in the field of Electron Transfer Reactions in Chemical Systems.
