Home guard held for motorcycle theft

The Punjagutta police on Wednesday arrested three persons including a home guard on charge of stealing motorcycles from different parking places in the city and suburbs. A total of 30 motorcycles valued at Rs.15 lakh were recovered.

According to the police, the accused Sampathi Bikshapathi Raju alias Raju (33), a home guard working at Karimnagar district headquarters, Rayini Anjaiah (40) , an auto driver and Sher Devender (30) a private employee formed a gang and took to stealing vehicles.

The gang members used to open the lock using duplicate keys and later sell the vehicles to known persons saying that they will get the documents after few weeks. “Raju also tampered with the engine number and registration number of a few motorcycles to avoid getting caught,” DCP (West) A Venkateshwera Rao said.
