Cost of water tanker to be supplied to commercial and residential apartments, which have not set up rainwater harvesting pits, will be higher starting July.

Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board has asked consumers to use Jalam Jeevam online App to register their connection numbers/ Consumer Account Number (CAN). Rainwater harvesting pits will have to be interlinked to the CAN on the App. Consumers can upload a picture of their pit on the App to link it with the CAN.

This linking will have to be completed by the end of June. Those residential and commercial establishments which have not linked their rainwater harvesting pits to their CAN will have to pay additional cost.

The water board decided to hike tariff to make more residential and commercial apartments adopt rainwater harvesting measures. As per the revised rates for those who do not construct rainwater harvesting system, water tanker of 5 kilo litre capacity which costs ₹500 for residential apartments currently will be priced at ₹750. Ten KL tankers currently priced ₹ 1,000 for residential apartments will be priced ₹1,500 from July 1.

For commercial establishments the cost will be ₹1,300 for 5 KL instead of ₹850, for 10 KL it will be ₹2,600 instead of ₹1,700 and ₹5,000 for 20 KL instead of ₹3,400.

Consumers who do not have CAN will be charged ₹1,500 for transportation as against current fare of ₹850.
