Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) has rejected the claims of residents of one Pallavi Enclave Owners Welfare Association on the Medikunta Cheruvu, a water body in Guttala Begumpet.

The residents, numbering 57, laid claim over 24.475 acres of land within the tank, and requested HMDA to shift the pillars and signboards marking the full tank level, claiming that the tank did not come under purview of HMDA as per the government orders for lake protection.

Further, they approached the High Court, which had redirected them to apply to the authorities concerned.

As per a report by the HMDA Lakes division based on the Irrigation survey, government orders concerned, and report by the Ranga Reddy District Collector, and others, HMDA Commissioner T.Chiranjeevulu has dismissed the claims of the residents, according to an HMDA note on Tuesday.
