HMDA plans to offer office space at laserium

June 11, 2010 04:45 pm | Updated 04:57 pm IST - HYDERABAD:

In the vacant area available at the Laserium in the Lumbini Park, the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) has decided to explore the possibilities of creating some office space apart from coming out with some souvenir shops.

Towards this, the HMDA has called for tenders for utilising the area under the Laser Gallery for office accommodation and shops at an estimated contract value of around Rs.39 lakh.

The last date for submission of tenders from interested parties has been fixed at June 22 and when accorded, the works are expected to be completed in two months time.

The vacant space here was initially considered for setting up some kind of recreational facilities given its location at La serium, Lumbini Park and a host of other similar ones in the proximity.

However, the idea was given a closer scrutiny in view of the bomb blast that killed 12 persons three years ago.

“Setting up a hotel there was the initial idea but that has been shelved and we now decided to utilise it partly as office space since our hours of functioning do not clash with the show timings at the laserium,” an official said.

The work is not much and with already built-up space and some covering to be added, it could be turned functional, the official pointed out.
