Hitachi Solutions India opened on Monday its second global development centre in Hyderabad, a 200-seater facility, and declared that further expansion of the operations is on the cards.

A subsidiary of Hitachi Solutions America Ltd that provides industry solutions and services on Microsoft platforms, it is focussing on a two-pronged strategy to expand. The company is eyeing catering to Japan, something the CEO and managing director Ananthanarayanan Subramanian is confident of in the backdrop of “Japanese firms warming up to India”, besides looking forward to governments in India embracing its solutions for smarter governance.

Mr. Subramanian, reluctant to share details as it was early days, however, said that for the expansion the choice of location for Hitachi Solutions India was going to be Hyderabad or may be Chennai. This is not surprising considering that it expects Telangana to be the first among the State governments to adopt its “value propositions” for smarter governance.

On the existing operations, he said that the company has added one more development centres each in both Chennai and Hyderabad, facilities that would raise the headcount to 700. While recruitment for Chennai is partly done, the process of filling up the new 200 seater centre in Hyderabad has been initiated, including in association with the Telangana Academy for Skill and Knowledge (TASK), he said. The total headcount now is 300 and set to touch 700 in 18 months. For Chennai too, the plan is to recruit 200 persons.

North America, UK, Thailand, Singapore and Philippines primarily are markets Hitachi Solutions India caters to at present, he said, while hinting at the huge potential of catering to Japanese firms.

In a release, on the opening of the Hyderabad facility by Telangana IT Minister K.T.Rama Rao, Hitachi Solutions America CEO Keiho Akiyama said that “the India strategy has become integral for Hitachi Solutions Group. We continue to see India as one of the best destinations for expansion.”

The new centre, according to Mr.Subramanian, will focus on technologies, including Microsoft Dynamics AX, Dynamics CRM and related Microsoft SharePoint and SQL BI Solutions.
