Abu Ali Khan, a history-sheeter of Hussaini Alam, was hacked to death at Darusalam in Habeebgangar while he was returning home after attending a murder case trial in Nampally Criminal Court Complex on Thursday.
His associates Abdullah Sarfaraz and Shaik Feroz along with whom he went to the court fled on seeing the attackers. The killers wielding knives and daggers turned up as Khan and three others were passing by the State Bank of India branch office around noon.
They pounced on him and inflicted multiple injuries. Abdullah rang up the victim’s elder brother Hyder Ali Khan and informed him about the attack. By the time the police and the victim’s family members rushed to the spot, Khan was dead.
The victim was accused of involvement in many criminal cases including the murder of a person named Abed in Mirchowk nearly seven years ago. “We’re told that Khan threatened Syed Firasat, one of the witnesses in Abed’s murder case, of dire consequences if the latter deposed against him,” the police said.
On Thursday morning while attending trial in connection with the murder, he allegedly intimidated Firasat who called up his friends. While Khan was leaving for home, Firasat and others stalked and eliminated him at Darusalam, the police said.
