Highway robberies in Nirmal

Four criminals travelling in a jeep committed a couple of highway robberies in Nirmal district in the small hours of Wednesday and looted ₹1.25 lakh.

The first incident took place near Degam on the border of Mudhole mandal when the assailants stopped a vehicle loaded with eggs travelling towards Aurangabad in Maharashtra from Ramayampet and stole ₹25,000 from the driver. They later continued towards Nirmal and stopped another lorry near Dilawarpur on the Nirmal-Bhainsa road. They forced the driver to part with the ₹1 lakh in cash he was carrying and made good their escape, according to Nirmal Rural CI L. Jeevan Reddy.
