High Court stays demolition drive

Justice Ramesh Ranganathan stayed the demolition of houses which was taken up by Secunderabad Cantonment Board till Friday.

The case will come up before the court on Wednesday. Several advocates representing effected parties made a request to the judge at 10.30 a.m. complaining that the demolitions will start at any time. The judge directed the standing counsel to stall the demolition and heard the cases after lunch and granted limited stay.

Sanghi’s arrest stayed

Meanwhile, Justice R. Kantha Rao of the Andhra Pradesh High Court stayed the arrest of industrialist and former Member of Parliament Girish Sanghi in a criminal case for four weeks.

The former MP is shown as accused in a case wherein the police alleged that several persons including the petitioner took out a rally on November 21 without police permission in the name of protest against demolition by the Secunderabad Cantonment Board in Agrasen Bhavan.
