Heart transplant successful

The Gleneagles Global Hospital, Hyderabad, has successfully conducted heart transplant on a patient Sushila Pawar from Adilabad. Snior consultant Rajeev Garg Interventional Cardiologist and Chief Operating Officer Sharath Chandran of the hospital introduced the patient at a press conference here on Wednesday. They said that the transplant was done under the Arogyasri programme of the State Government. The hospital has been serving patients from backward Adilabad district for the past 14 years during which hundreds of diagnostic tests and about 50 cardiac surgeries were done, they revealed.

The doctors appealed to patients to make use of the facility provided by the Government under Arogyasri. Heart transplant costs ₹75 lakh without Government support, they added.
