After spending close to eight hours with patients and doctors on Monday at Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS), Health Minister C. Laxma Reddy is understood to have promised to take quick steps to improve the overall functioning of the hospital.

The Health Minister, who visited almost all the major wards at NIMS and later chaired the hospital’s executive board meeting, said that the Government was serious about taking measures to provide better facilities to patients at NIMS. The Health Minister agreed to start the process of recruitment of health care workers, paramedical staff, nurses and faculty members of NIMS, senior doctors revealed. Release of funds for quick recruitment of doctors, which is necessary to operate newly constructed blocks at the NIMS campus in Punjagutta, was also promised. Mr. Reddy also gave the green signal to officials to chalk out a plan to renovate the old blocks and if necessary, even go in for new buildings. . Earlier, the Minister, along with Director of NIMS, Dr. L. Narendranath, Director of Medical Education Dr. Putta Srinivas and other officials inspected the entire campus.
