HC stays GO 45 on land acquisition

Justice M. S Ramachandra Rao of the Hyderabad High Court on Friday stayed the operation of GO Ms No. 45 issued by the Telangana government to acquire land through private negotiations for allotting the same to certain industrial blocs like Green Pharmacity in Ranga Reddy district, NIMZ in Medak, and Solar projects in Mahabubnagar district.

The judge issued the interim order after hearing a petition filed by Begari Venkataiah and eight other farmers from Kurmidda village in Yacharam mandal of Ranga Reddy district. The farmers were allotted assigned land by the authorities in the past. According to the farmers’ counsel N.S. Arjun Kumar, the authorities are now trying to forcibly take back the land from the farmers even though law does not permit them to do so.

“They are doing it for Green Pharmacity. If they want our land let them acquire it under Land Acquisition Act 2013 and not otherwise. In the meantime, let them not disturb us from the peaceful possession and enjoyment of our land,” he said.

The judge directed the authorities not to pressure and disturb the possession and continued agricultural activity of the petitioners pending disposal of the writ petition.

Warrant stayed

The Hyderabad High Court on Friday stayed the bailable warrant issued against TRS nominated MLA Stephenson and complainant in the cash for vote case by a single judge.A division bench comprising Justice V Ramasubramanian and Justice was dealing with a petition by Stephenson challenging the order of the single judge in issuing warrant by directing the Hyderabad city police commissioner to arrest him and to release him on a personal bond of Rs 1 lakh and produce him before the court on September 30.

While staying the warrant, the bench issued the notices to the respondents and adjourned the hearing.
