Justice P.Naveen Rao of AP High Court on Thursday extended the interim orders staying the operation of the decision of the Army authorities to block civilian traffic on all major roads of Secunderabad cantonment area. The stay now will be in force till April 10.

The judge was dealing with a batch of petitions complaining that thousands of families residing at Malkajgiri and Safilguda areas will suffer if the Army enforced the decision to block traffic as there are no proper alternative roads. It may be recalled that the Judge had on an earlier occasion suspended the decision of the Army authorities to block civilian traffic from February 25.

Justice Naveen Rao had asked a high level team comprising Army authorities, police, GHMC officers etc to hold a meeting to arrive at a solution.

It is learnt that the police expressed their inability to provide alternative roads for free flow of traffic.

The case is listed for hearing on April 10. The roads which are covered by these orders include five major roads from SP Road/East Marredpally towards Allahabad Gate (Entrancement Road), from Secunderabad Club, Picket/West Marredpally towards Wellington Enclave (Wellington Road), from Safilguda junction towards Safilguda railway crossing (Ordnance road) and Tirumulgherry Hanuman temple to Gough road (Mornington Road ) and Kendriya Vidyalaya crossing to East/West Marredpally (Gough Road).
