HC names panel to prevent suicides in campuses

The High Court has constituted a 10-member committee to suggest measures to prevent suicides in educational institutions. The panel, which was constituted by a Division Bench comprising acting Chief Justice N.V. Ramana and Justice Vilas Afzulpurkar, will submit its report by June. The bench had earlier treated reports on the suicides as a writ petition. Mr. D. Prakash Reddy, amicus curie appointed by the court, had also submitted a report.

The panel comprises Ajay Mishra, Principal Secretary, Higher Education; G. Srinivas, joint secretary, UGC; Prof. Beena, director, Sahayam, Osmania University; Prof. Ramakrishna Ramaswamy, VC, University of Hyderabad; Prof. Harish K. Vijra, Proctor, EFLU; Faizan Mustafa,VC, Nalsar, Prof. Martin E. Price, Restorative Service, Nalsar; Ms. Vasudha Nagaraj, advocate, A.P. High Court; Prof. G. Haragopal, human rights activist and Ramashankar Naik, Secretary, Board of Intermediate Education.
