Quiz held to promote protection of environment around Hussainsagar

Harsha Bhogle bats for ‘water culture’. Hyderabad’s very own cricket commentator and columnist hosted a quiz as part of the promotion for protecting the environment in and around the famous Hussainsagar, courtesy the initiative by Suheim Sheikh, president of Yacht Club of Hyderabad, on Thursday..

It is important not just to follow a sport but also know its history, remarked Mr. Bhogle who made the young students feel comfortable in his own inimitable style.

Interestingly, the teams were named after some of the prominent water reservoirs such Osmansagar and Sriramsagar.

For the record, Gitanjali School (Begumpet) comprising Siddharth B. Rao, Yash Baldawa, Arnav Thrinath, Suhaas Putta and Lucky Kaul emerged champions while Meridian School (Ahmed Sihorwala, Attiang Gupte, Mrunal Puram, Sakesh Manda and Hardhik Lankalapalli) and the DRS International (Chaitanya, Pradyumna, Eswar, Suhas and Tarun ) were second and third respectively.

“I am not a school teacher who would scream at you for a wrong answer. You can keep trying and enjoy this programme,” was the way Mr. Bhogle started off the programme.

With P.R. Ramesh, Chairman Deloitte, Rajeev Jain of Liquid Hub, Sri Sunil Kumar Gupta, Commissioner of Buddha Poornima Project, and Mr. Sheikh joining hands with other like-minded personalities, the objective of the programme being held simultaneously with the annual Monsoon Regatta, was to stress the importance of saving the environment of the lake which they felt was unique for its location – right in the heart of the State capital.

Mr. Bhogle reminded that there were few cities which had such a privilege and the onus was on all to keep it clean.

Special place

To the delight of the organisers, Harsha promised to be part of any promotional activity about the city for which he has a special place in his heart.
