The Punjagutta police on Friday recovered half kilo of stolen gold ornaments after busting a four-member gang from Tamil Nadu.

An amount of ₹30,000 and two bikes with fake number plates were also seized from the arrested Ganesh Doraiswamy, S. Sasi Kumar, Ravi Muni Sami and Nagaraju Govind.

Their associate Govind was still at large, West Zone DCP A. Venkateshwara Rao said.

Members of the gang would go to houses in a locality posing as GHMC employees and move around the house in the guise of assessing property tax. By diverting attention of inmates of the house, they would steal gold jewellery from almirahs and disappear.
