The computerised draw was done by the Haj Committee of India in Mumbai and the results displayed here. The aspirants waited with bated breath as the cover numbers were screened. Minorities Welfare Minister Mohd. Ahmadullah commenced the ‘qurrah’ from Adilabad district.

The maximum of 1,370 pilgrims were selected from Hyderabad while the least number of 61 is from East Godavari. Draw of lots for the districts of Nellore, Prakasam, Srikakulam, Vizianagaram and West Godavari was not held as the number of applications received was less than the quota.

Earlier, the Minister urged the Haj aspirants not to feel disappointed if they were not selected. They should take it as God’s will. Mr. Ahmadullah promised to provide better facilities for pilgrims this year. He thanked the Chief Minister for doubling the budget of Haj Committee from Rs. 1 crore to Rs. 2 crore.

Later, the minister said Chief Minister would lay foundation for a new Haj House at Shamshabad airport shortly.
