Hackathon a crowd-puller

The two-day Hackathon conducted by NIT Trichy in association with Amazon India in the city saw more than 100 participants build mobile and web-based applications that will help people collaborate and work as a team. The theme was ‘Collaboration Tools’.

The event, which is part of ‘Pragyan 2015’, the annual international techno-managerial festival is held in different cities as a precursor to the four-day festival to be held from February 26 to March 1, 2015 at NIT Trichy.

An application focused on easing interdepartmental work at newspaper companies was declared the winner. Projects that were based on classroom interaction and interview process were the runners-up. A web application that aimed at providing real time shopping experience online received special mention. Winners of the Hackathon were awarded Rs. 15,000 and three Amazon Kindle devices, a press release said.
