The Afzalgunj police on Saturday recovered gold chains weighing nearly 900 grams from a ‘chain snatcher', Mohd. Faisal Shah Ali Jabri, who was caught nine days ago.
Jabri was taken into police custody subsequently and the snatched gold chains were recovered based on his confession, Hyderabad Police Commissioner A.K. Khan said at a press conference. Son of a doctor couple, Jabri had been snatching chains from women walking on the road since 2008.
He was arrested thrice earlier. As he failed to quit the path of crime, his parents asked him to live separately. However, Jabri didn't mend his ways. After being released from prison in October last, he continued his spree of snatchings, the Commissioner said.
Changing houses
The 28-year-old ‘offender' used to frequently change houses leaving police clueless about his address. He stole a Black Pulsar and used it while committing snatchings after changing the number plate. On a tip-off, the Commissioner's Task Force caught him. Jabri admitted to have snatched chains from 22 persons in East zone. He also struck at South and Central zones 11 and five times respectively and once in West zone.
