Gulf Oil Corporation accident toll rises to six

Two more persons who were undergoing treatment for injuries sustained in the Gulf Oil Corporation accident died taking the death toll to six on Monday. The victims were identified as Y. Muthyala Rao, 56, of Bolaram who sustained 75 per cent burns and M. Mahatma Goud (60) of Tirumulgherry who also got 75 per cent burns.

Two persons died on the spot and 13 others sustained injuries, six persons were critically injured in the explosion that occurred while the workers were trying to dispose off rejected detonators at an open place adjacent to a shed on February 23.

Six of those critically injured were shifted to Apollo DRDO Hospital where Madhusudhan Reddy and Krishna Swamy died while undergoing treatment earlier. The condition of two other victims, Abdul Saleem and Surendar Reddy remains critical while that of seven others is stable, doctors said on Monday.
