All roads will lead to Old City on Sunday. A colourful procession is being planned on the occasion of the birthday of Prophet Mohammed. It is celebrated on the 12th day of the Islamic month Rabi-ul-Awal.
Several thousand people are expected to participate in the procession being taken out by Sunni United Forum of India.
The main procession will start from Quadri Chaman Darga in Falaknuma and will travel through Charminar, Pathergatti, Nayapul, Darulshifa and Alijah Kotla. Many tributary processions are expected the join the procession en route.
Blood donation camps, fruit distribution programmes, poor feeding camps, mass marriages events, free health camps and a host of other activities are also planned. A photo exhibition of pictures of Islamic holy places is also underway at the Yakutpura road. Holy relics of Prophet Mohammad have also been put on display at many mosques and function halls across the city.
On Sunday a massive religious meeting is being organised by Majlis-e-Tameer-e-Millat at Nizam College grounds and other organisations at important mosques in the city.
Traffic restrictionsMeanwhile, the city police have announced traffic restrictions in Old City. Vehicles will not be allowed towards Madina building crossroads from Afzalgunj. Traffic coming from Shahalibanda towards Charminar will be diverted at Haribowli.
Similarly traffic coming from Kotla Alijah towards Charminar will be diverted towards Bibi Bazaar junction. Also vehicles coming from MGBS Kalikhabar will not be allowed towards Darulshifa and will be diverted on Shivaji Bridge. APSRTC buses bound for Charminar will be terminated at Afzalgunj.
