The State Government on Wednesday issued orders withdrawing the mining lease granted to Penna Cement Industries in Tadipatri mandal of Anantapur district.

The order from the Industries Department said the company held six mining leases in Anantapur, Kurnool and Nalgonda districts as on March 19, 2008.

As the company held mining leases in a total of 1,105.97 hectares – 10 sq.km more than that prescribed under the Mines and Minerals Act 1957 – the Department decided to withdraw those leases which the company had not yet executed.

Accordingly, it issued orders withdrawing mining leases granted to the company in 106.86 hectares at Talaricheruvu village and also another mining lease for 18.615 hectares in the same village of Anantapur district.
