Students of the government high school in Sapthagiri Colony would no longer have to sit out under the trees or on the verandah while having their midday meal.

In a bid to ensure that the schoolchildren take their lunch in a hygienic and comfortable environment, a couple of affluent local residents pooled in money for a dining hall at the school that was inaugurated on Saturday evening.

along with businessman Kesarimal Karwa had made donations for the dining hall, said to be first such initiative in State government-run schools implementing midday meal scheme.

Former legislator K. Devender, who was present at the inauguration, called upon students to utilise the dining hall for a comfortable lunch. He felicitated Mr. Srinivas Rao and Mr. Karwa with a shawl and memento for their noble gesture.
