A Division Bench of Hyderabad High Court comprising Acting Chief Justice Ramesh Ranganathan and Justice Abhinand Kumar Shavli on Tuesday asked the Telangana government to explain by Thursday under what authority the government had sealed the office of the Wakf Board.

The Bench was dealing with a case filed by M.A.K.Mukheed, a practicing advocate of High Court. He alleged that the government had acted high handedly and without jurisdiction. The full-fledged board is in place and the officers cannot take over the minority institution in this manner. The Bench asked the government to explain. The government contended that there are serious allegations of illegal activity and to see that the records are protected properly the seal had been put. The Bench said that the source of power and how it was exercised must be explained. The case will be listed on Thursday.
