Governor, CM condole Sridevi’s death

Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan, Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao and leaders of various political parties expressed profound grief over the sudden demise of veteran actress Sridevi, saying the news has come as a huge shock.

The Governor said that the film industry has suffered an irreparable loss and conveyed condolences to the bereaved family.

Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao, in a message, said Sridevi acted in several films in Telugu, Hindi and other Indian languages and captivated the audience with her beauty, acting and dance skills. It is unfortunate that she died so young, he added. The Chief Minister said the characters she portrayed would be remembered forever even as he offered condolences to her family.

YSR Congress Party president Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy said the veteran actress and heartthrob of yesteryears rode the film industry “like a Colossus with her charm, talent and agility”. It is a loss to the industry and film lovers, more so, generations of filmgoers in the country, he said conveying condolences to the Kapoor family.
