April 18, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:41 am IST - HYDERABAD:

Union Minister for Urban Development M. Venkaiah Naidu has said that the government intends to pass all important bills, including the Land Acquisition (Amendments) Bill, General Sales Tax Bill and Undisclosed Foreign Income and Assets - Imposition of Tax Bill, in the coming session of Parliament and appealed to the Opposition to cooperate with the government in passage of the bills.

In the normal course, proceedings would have recommenced on April 20 to complete the legislation process on the Union Budget for 2015-16. However, Rajya Sabha had to be prorogued to facilitate re-promulgation of the Land Acquisition Ordinance. Under the Constitution, an Ordinance cannot be promulgated unless one of the two Houses is prorogued. At a news conference here, he maintained the bills proposed by the government were landmark legislations and being taken forward in the best interests of the people.
