December 17, 2014 12:56 am | Updated June 02, 2016 04:25 am IST - HYDERABAD:

An unidentified person entered into Fedbank Financial Services Limited, Malkajgiri branch and decamped with half kg gold and Rs. 1.25 lakh cash early on Tuesday, the police said. The bank offers gold loans.

According to the police, a lean man wearing a mask opened the shutter using keys which he was purportedly carrying along with him. “ After entering the bank he opened the gold chest and collected gold ornaments from two trays, but left behind the property kept in five other trays,” DCP Malkajgiri R. Rama Rajeshwari said. He also sprinkled chilly powder inside the bank premises to prevent the sniffer dogs from tracking him.

The bank has three closed circuit cameras and police are trying to collect the feed. The police questioned the bank officials to gather some evidence and suspect the role of some insider in the theft.
