Gloom and despair descended upon the Vijayanagar colony residence of Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy’s Chief Security Officer A.S.C. Wesley here on Thursday.

Visitors started streaming in since morning as soon as the chopper in which he travelled along with the Chief Minister was traced, and the deaths were announced.

The 44-year-old Mr. Wesley hailed from Ongole and was inducted into the IPS in 1998. After studying M.A. (Litt.) from Madras University, he successfully graduated in Law from Osmania University.

He was recruited as a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP). He was appointed as the Chief Security Officer (CSO) to the Chief Minister recently. He is survived by wife Kranthi, and two children, son Kamal (8) and daughter Lekha (6).

Additional Director General (Intelligence) K. Aravinda Rao who visited the bereaved family, said it was an unfortunate incident. Bodies of the crash victims would be flown to Hyderabad, he informed.

Ministers P. Sudarshan Reddy and Konda Surekha, Mana Party chief Kasani Gnaneshwar, Ranga Reddy District Collector M. Dana Kishore, and Additional DG A.K. Khan were among the visitors who commiserated with the family.

The traffic police had difficulty controlling the vehicle rush on the stretch.
