The Hyderabad Central Crime Station sleuths, who investigated and filed the charge-sheet in the case pertaining to the rape of a class X student by Mohammad Salahuddin Ayub, ex-director of Parkwood International School, also accused him of causing disappearance of evidence in the case under section 201 of the IPC. But the court held that the prosecution had failed to establish this charge.
The case registered on July 20, 2010 following a complaint lodged by the teenager attracted wide attention with several sections condemning the alleged heinous crime.
The accused, Mohammed Salahuddin Ayub, was arrested three days later.
Mobile, laptop seized
A mobile phone and a laptop - containing pictures and visuals corroborating the act of the accused - were seized from him, then CCS Inspector A. P. Anand Kumar, who probed the sensational case, said on Friday.
A licensed pistol of .32 calibre and 11 live rounds, which the accused allegedly used to threaten the victim if she revealed the matter to anyone, were also recovered.
A boarder of the school, the student maintained that the director, who used to live in a quarter on the school campus, initially violated her after giving her a sedative on the campus in February 2010.
Later, he allegedly took her to his residence near MLA Colony in Banjara Hills at times and raped her.
‘Clinching evidence’
“We verified the school’s entry and exit records which proved that he had taken her out at times during that period without permission of her parents. This was clinching evidence against him,” Mr. Kumar said.
Suspecting that the teenager had become pregnant, he also took her to some diagnostic centres in city, got her medically checked under a false name by wrongly mentioning her age as 21 years.
Pregnancy terminated
Salahuddin Ayub was accused of administering her some pills and getting her pregnancy terminated. The police filed a seven-page charge-sheet after examining 17 persons.
Thirty-two persons deposed evidence in the case. Public prosecutor Padmalata Reddy presented arguments in the case.
