An 11-year-old girl Sai Nikitha died while her brother Shiva Manoj, 9, sustained critical injuries after falling from a building under mysterious circumstances at Subhash Nagar of S.R. Nagar on Wednesday night.

It is not yet known whether the two children accidentally slipped from the two-storeyed building, the police said after visiting the spot.

“We are verifying if there was any foul play,” the police said. Parents of the children, Ravi, a financier, and his wife Laxmi told the police that the two children went to the building opposite their house to play around 9 p.m. Ravinder, a resident of the locality said, that he heard a thud and rushed out only to see the two children lying on the floor with bleeding wounds. Both of them were rushed to a nearby private hospital.

Nikitha died while undergoing treatment. Shiva Manoj was admitted in Prime Hospital where his condition is said to be critical.

The incident created panic in Subhash Nagar as rumours spread that some persons had pushed the children from the building.
