Temporary toilets and medical camps would come up in crowded areas during Bonalu festivities, as part of the GHMC’s preparedness ahead of the festival. This would be arranged in coordination with the medical and health departments, GHMC Commissioner Somesh Kumar said. He was responding to a request from members of the Temple Committee.
At a review meeting here on Wednesday, Mr. Somesh Kumar said he would inspect all the procession routes to ensure that proper sanitation and street lighting were available.
He would talk to the Telangana Southern Power Distribution Company to ensure that there were no power disruptions, and with the HMWSSB for drinking water arrangements.
Property Tax almost doublesAs on June 24, the GHMC had collected Rs.161 crore towards property tax, which was 94 per cent higher than the amount collected during the same period last year, GHMC Commissioner Somesh Kumar said.
He appealed to those who had not paid their property tax to do so before June 30 to avoid the levy of an additional two per from July 1.
The Citizen Service Centres (CSCs) would remain open on June 29 despite it being a Sunday for the facility of tax payers, he added.
Dispose unclaimed bodies: MayorMayor Mohammed Majid Hussain on Wednesday asked GHMC officials to dispose unclaimed bodies every week from Gandhi Hospital and Osmania General Hospital without involving NGOs.
At a review meeting on Wednesday, he directed the officials to provide Rs.10 lakh to Zonal Commissioners to be used for the burial of such bodies.
The officials were asked to approach the hospitals for permission to take up anti-larval and fogging operations there. The hospitals would also be approached to maintain air-conditioned chambers in the mortuaries, according to a press release.
