The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has proposed a series of steps to develop Mir Alam Tank and its vicinities apart from measures to improve the quality of the water body . These measures were discussed by Commissioner Somesh Kumar and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi during their visit to the tank on Wednesday.

The proposals to improve facilities for visitors include setting up three entry plazas, play equipment, cafeteria, stalls and amphitheatre.

Landscaping

Landscaping and other beautification works with plantation will be taken up in the foreshore area.

There is also a proposal to develop walking tracks on the peripheral bund and bicycling tracks on the tank ring bund covering a length of 6.50 km. High jet fountains would be installed in the water spread to provide aeration and aesthetics.

Mr. Owaisi suggested that the civic body add security components to the plans and advised installation of camera and electronic surveillance system.

Mr. Somesh Kumar said that sanction of works worth Rs. 4 crore in the first phase has been proposed and tenders would be called shortly.

Community hall

Mr. Somesh Kumar also instructed the south zone officials to submit proposals for renovation of three playgrounds located at Sultan Shahi and for construction of compound wall around the graveyards in Moghalpura division.

The Commissioner inspected different areas of the division along with Charminar MLA Syed Ahmed Pasha Quadri.

He later inspected the Metharwadi Community Hall which has not been completed due to a court case and asked the officials to complete the work immediately taking police protection, as the court has delivered judgement in favour of the GHMC, according to a press release.
