GHMC gives approval for many projects

Football stadium, FoB and model market among facilities to come up

The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation’s standing committee on Thursday approved a host of projects including a football stadium in Barkas at an estimated cost of ₹ 5.89 crore.

Funds for land acquisition for road widening at various places including Amberpet were also approved. These include ₹ 1.29 crore for road widening near Wahed Nagar and another ₹ 1.81 crore as compensation for seven properties being affected at Golnaka. In another case of road widening, the standing committee approved the acquisition of 182 properties from Kavadiguda to Padmarao Nagar stretch. Another 12 properties have been approved for acquisition at LB Nagar-Siris Company.

The corporation will hire as many as 51 IT consultants on contract basis at the head office and circle offices. For the convenience of pedestrians, the construction of a foot overbridge has been approved near the Mahavir Hospital in Masab Tank.

The standing committee also approved the construction of a five-storey model market at an estimated cost of ₹ 4 crore along with the construction of a multi-purpose function hall at Nehru Nagar at an estimated cost of ₹ 2 crore.

To tackle the issue of inundation at the Chintalkunta Checkpost, a 900 mm stormwater drain at an estimated cost of ₹ 2.8 crore has also been approved.
