The GHMC has finished calling of tenders for one lakh double bedroom houses scheduled to be built in the city. On Wednesday, the corporation called for tenders for construction of 31,704 flats, in the final bit, thereby finishing the process from its side for the project costing ₹8,225 crore.
In all 33 slums have to be vacated for the in-situ housing planned by the GHMC, a press statement said. The difficult task was to convince residents of the slums who occupied larger plots, as they were recalcitrant and approached court, it said.
For the construction of a lakh of houses, 109 plots have been identified in the city and surrounding areas, in coordination with the collectors of Hyderabad, Medchal, Sangareddy, and Ranga Reddy districts.
Tender process has been finished for construction of 59,520 flats at 88 locations and work has begun at 40 locations for 27,734 flats.
By Deepavali festival, the houses at two locations, respectively at Singamcheruvu Tanda in Nacharam, and Erukala Nancharamma Basthi in Mansoorabad will be completed, the note said.
So far, 396 double bedroom houses have been constructed and handed over to the beneficiaries at IDH Colony, Bhoiguda.
